In 2002-2003 academic year, the Centre for Serbian as a Foreign Language began operating within the Department of Serbian Language and Linguistics at the Faculty of Philosophy (www.ff.ns.ac.yu), University of Novi Sad. The Centre offers to its students an opportunity to learn Serbian and get to know about Serbian culture and history.
Programme requirements at the Centre are in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, a document put together by the Council of Europe with the aim to provide a method of assessing and teaching foreign languages which applies to all languages in Europe. These six reference levels which describe achievements of learners served as the starting point for the Centre’s staff to create courses, books and tests.
The classes are held at the Faculty, in the classrooms equipped with the tools necessary for successful teaching-learning environment according to modern methodology requirements. Modern books and materials have been devised to satisfy the needs of the course and meet the expectations of the workload standards for each level.
